Marquetry is the use of inlay, in the form of a picture or some recognizable motif. Marquetry was used as far back as ancient Egypt; however, it was brought to its highest order during the renaissance in Italy.

The process of marquetry involves hand cutting different veneers to fit together in the same way a jig saw puzzle does. Each individual piece of veneer is selected for its color and grain characteristics. No stains, paints, dyes or other colors are added to the veneer. We use only the natural palette available to us from Mother Nature.

Our methods for cutting marquetry are always by hand with the use of a very fine jeweler's saw blade. All of our work is the result of painstaking eye/hand coordination. Many times there are a multitude of different wood species used, multiplied by just as many different grain patterns, to achieve the desired effect. To this we add artistic sensibilities and the result is nothing short of a timeless, unique piece of art.
