"Your work is amazing. I was completely taken by what you have accomplished. The overall impression was that it is some of the best work I have ever seen."
James Chiavelli,
Publisher, Fine Woodworking Magazine
Frank Pollaro, President and Chief Executive Officer, founded the Company in 1988 at age 21. Frank demonstrated his interest in woodworking from age 5. The son of a building demolition worker and a medical assistant, Frank was encouraged to pursue his artistic talents, which included design, drawing and building from a very young age.
During high school Frank won a first place ribbon for two consecutive years in a statewide student crafts fair. As a senior in high school he saw an issue of Fine Woodworking magazine, which featured the work of master furniture designer Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann on the cover. He fell in love with the way Ruhlmann used ivory as an embellishment against rich, dark wood backgrounds. This was the beginning of a discipline, which forced him to learn the very finest techniques for making furniture and the secrets of 18th Century Ebenistes. Later Frank enrolled in the Interior Design Program at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
Frank's work has been seen in many publications and media. His furniture continues to win critical acclaim from leading designers and architects and has been shown at the Neuberger Museum at the State University of New York at Purchase. He was invited as the only out of state participant to show his work in the New Hampshire Furniture Masters Exhibition in 2001 and he was awarded the Master Award by American Woodworker magazine as well as a First Place award in a nationwide professional furniture maker's competition.
Perhaps the most prestigious awards come from the clients that return year after year to expand their collection of Pollaro furniture. The majority of clients own more than three pieces of Pollaro furniture.
In addition to the pursuit of challenging commissions, Frank also actively preserves his craft through teaching at leading furniture making programs throughout the country.
Frank is married to Diana and they have three dogs, Clarisse, Oliver and Sal. Frank is also a fisherman and collector of wine.
